Heat level is a personal preference. Some like it hot. Others can barely handle the spice of common ground black peppercorns. Most people are somewhere in between those two extremes. Our flavor-forward sauces are available in medium or hot, signified by one pepper or two on the product labels. Customers who prefer even less heat than the medium versions can make hot sauce or medium sauce mild to soften the heat. Here is how:
Prep Time: Less than 5 minutes
- sour cream
- plain greek yogurt
- coconut milk
- vegan substitute for sour cream or plain greek yogurt
Organic Original Dipping Sauce – Mild and Organic Citrus Infused Sauce – Mild
To make a mild version of Organic Original Dipping Sauce – Medium or Organic Citrus Infused Sauce – Medium, mix either sauce with mayonnaise, plain greek yogurt, sour-cream, or the vegan equivalent. Experiment with the ratio until you get just the right combination of flavor and heat for you. If you are a mixed-heat household then consider mixing up individual ramekins or small bowls. You can make hot sauce mild whether you are using the Medium or the Hot version.
Mixed Heat Households
If your family is like most some like their sauces hot while others do not. If you purchase the 2 pepper “hot” version of the sauce and then discover that someone in the house likes it medium, you can lower the heat and keep the peace. Even those who like it on the mild side with very little heat can mix even more plain greek yogurt or sour cream into the sauce. For an extra rich and spiced up sour-cream or yogurt add some mayonnaise in addition to either the Original Dipping or Citrus Infused Sauce. Remember you can bring the temperature down in a mixed heat household. It’s more difficult to bring the temperature up to satisfy those who like it hot. If you like garlic aioli consider also making Spicy Mayo using either the Original Dipping Sauce or Citrus Infused Sauce.
Organic Spicy Peanut Sauce – Mild
Customers who want a little less heat on the Organic Spicy Peanut Sauce – Medium can mix it with coconut milk, broth, sour cream, or plain greek yogurt depending upon the dish and consistency desired. If you wish to go the opposite way and add even more heat then we suggest adding flavorful heat to your dish by mixing in some Original Dipping Sauce – Hot.
